case study: group financial controller

We often work with clients to understand the strategy, the company, the role and from here find the ideal candidate. The process for selecting a leader can range from the straightforward to the complex. We partner with clients to find a leader but also ensure they have succession potential. We actively manage the communication process to the end of the process to enable our clients to start a new era with their future leader.

We worked with our client to appoint a Group Financial Controller who needed the potential candidate to step up into the CFO role in time. As part of our preparation, we developed a balanced scorecard to look at how we might evaluate success. This had four different dimensions to consider, including appointment and shortlist, through to the delivery of excellent candidate care, and our ability to look after and support the business. This was alongside the basics of meeting deadlines and providing quality documentation. The project was sensitive, and we engaged with candidates confidentially. We successfully appointed the candidate after a rigorous interview process involving large groups of people. We ensured all parties perceived that each element of the process has been handled professionally, from the degree of consultation and the candidate slate to the decision-making process and communication.
